TUSCANY & CONTEMPORARY ART
Posted by Violetta Buti in 2010 Summer Events in Florence, Contemporary sculptors, EXHIBITS IN ITALY on 28/07/2010
Tuscany attracts people from around the world not only for its superb ancient art and special atmosphere: CONTEMPORARY ART has become part of a true Italian experience that every visitor to this area should experience. Around Volterra are contemporary art installations that make the experience of driving up to Volterra one not to be missed. Spectacular views and nature will surprise you at every curve of this winding road – the old Etruscan road still connecting Volterra with Fiesole (near Florence). The Etruscans lived in this area from the 8th century B.C. when the Romans had not founded Florence yet. They were contemporaries of the Greeks and possessed an elevated cultural level. In Volterra you can visit the Etruscan museum and, as you walk around the town, see an Etruscan gate dating back to the 2nd century B.C. Internationally known artist Mauro Staccioli was borne in this city. His works blend perfectly with the Tuscany countryside. The exhibit will be visible until September 2010.
