PIEDMONT GOURMET EXPERIENCE

We offer you accommodation in the renovated neo-Gothic country estate of king Carlo Alberto of Savoy combined with a special food and wine experience in the  northern Piedmont region: This is the area of  the towns of Alba and Bra, renowned in the world for the Barolo and Barbaresco wines produced in the Langhe and Roero wine estates. This is the food valley, one of the most important food and wine centers in Piedmont and Italy! It is not a coincidence that the association “Slow food” was founded by the Italian Carlo Petrini back in 1986, precisely in Bra. Nowadays it has supporters in 150 countries around the world and their philosophy is to link the pleasure of good food with a commitment to their community and the environment.

While in this area we will be able to organize for you visits to:

“Banca del Vino”, (bank of wines) located in the historical cellars of the Agenzia di Pollenzo. Ideal to discover the oenological heritage of the best  Italian wines and to taste the wines from some of the most prestigious wineries.

“Castello Grinzane”  (Grinzane Fortress), which was the residence of Cavour, one of Italy’s primary politicians in the nineteenths century … it’s here that the unification of Italy started! The castle houses the “Piedmontese regional enoteca”, a prestigious showcase for the very best Piedmontese wines and grappas, foremost amongst them the Barolo and Barbaresco.

“Wine Museum”, located in a castle in the town of Barolo,  offers a broaden history of wines produced around the world.

“University of Gastronomic Sciences” founded in 2003 and supported by “Slow Food”. Possibilities to attend a food and wine course here in the future.

”Salone del Gusto” , the gourmet appointment for everyone around the world who cares about food. This fair  takes place in Turin every other year in October. Together with its parallel even, Terra Madre, they offer perhaps the only place I the world where peasants and artisan producers, academics and chefs, wine connoisseurs and novice food lovers can meet and exchange their knowledge.

“Cheese” is the other food event that alternates with Salone del Gusto. It takes place in Bra every other year, in the month of September.

INCOMING TOURISM TO ITALY AT TTI TRAVEL FAIR IN RIMINI, ITALY, OCTOBER 22-23, 2010

Yearly appointment concerning travels to Italy (TTI-Travel Trade Italy) has taken place on October

22-23, 2010 at Rimini, on the Adriatic coast, Italy. As travel planner and owner of BEAUTY IN ITALY Tour Company located in Florence, I decided to attend so that I could personally talk to the managers and owners of charming boutique and historical fashion hotels, wineries, vinegar and oil producers, located through out the country from the Trentino Alto Adige region, bordering with Austria, to Sicily, not too far from Africa.

For the next season 2011 I decided to propose – together with the famous Rome, Florence and Venice – also less world famous cities and Italian regions – but certainly incredible destinations NOT TO BE MISSED!

Reggio Emilia in the Emilia-Romagna region in the north of Italy with accommodation in the oldest hotel founded in Italy. I met the owner, the last descendant of the family, and he promises not only to welcome my guests at his historical hotel but also to show them the family vinegar production and cave with the very old barrels followed by a vinegar tasting. The city center boasts historical buildings and a famous theater as well.

Recanati in the Marche region is a small town whose name is known to all Italians as it was the native town of Leopardi, a famous nineteenth century poet. Here one can easily spend a few days at a wonderful 4-star hotel, rest, enjoy strolling through the old town, take an excursions to the Conero promontory to enjoy the view of its white cliffs and plonge into the blue fresh water of the Adriatic sea, or visit the Grotte Frasassi , the most spectacular caves in Italy.

The Mugello area, in theTuscany region, is about 25 miles north of Florence. It’s an area that mass tourism has not discovered yet, fortunately, and that certainly has a lot to offer in terms of nature, peace and beauty. I found a wonderful villa which will not only offer beautiful spacious rooms and service… The property is surrounded by olive trees and the owner is also an agronomist. The owners have specialized in olive oil production, foods (I tasted special chocolates!) and olive oil massages … Massages are given in private areas outside under olive trees … for a truly sensorial experience! In this area is the international Autodome of Mugello where Valentino Rossi and other motorcyclists and car racers ofen run their races.

The northen Genova in the Liguria region is not a city known to the majority of visitors to Italy and maybe not even to Italians. It has a lot to offer and staying in a historical hotel in the city center is the best way to experience the many historical and art buildings (Doge’s Palace, just like in Venice!), the tiny “carrugi” alleys, the food tradition (remember the famous “pesto” sauce made of Basil, “pinoli” pine nuts, parmisan cheese, olive oil, garlic), the sea port ambience (the most important harbour in Italy) with its aquarium, ships, yachts, BIGO the metallic crane offering quite a view over the city built by Italian contemporary architect Renzo Piano. From Genova one can easily take an excursion to Portofino.
