FLORENCE 2010-MOVING DAVID AROUND…
Posted by Violetta Buti in CULTURAL EVENTS IN FLORENCE on 13/11/2010
GREAT EVENT IN FLORENCE today, November 13th, 2010! The Duomo, the Baptistery and Bell Tower had been surrounded by green grass. The white and green marble of the buildings and the green grass created a great effect. The statue of David was standing on one side of the cathedral, yesterday, and , on the yard of the Duomo, today. Tomorrow it will be moved to the Piazza della Signoria, in front of the city hall Palazzo Vecchio, that is where the people of Florence decided to put it in 1504.
November 13, 2010 – Florentines and visitors to the city were surprised with a green grass flowerbed today – Just like when the remains of bishop Saint Zanobi were moved from the old cathedral San Lorenzo to the new one,Santa Reparata, many centuries ago.
Looking carefully, you can spot the statue of David (a fiberglass versione prepared for this event!) on the Duomo’s yard, next to the entrance. This one was the locations chosen to put David back in 1504. Then, it was decided that the front of the city hall Palazzo della Signoria was a better place.

Le prime anticipazioni di OperaFestival 2010
EVITA, il musical, LE CIRQUE INVISIBLE, DON GIOVANNI di W.A. Mozart

BAROCCI, ITALIAN PAINTER – EXHIBIT IN SIENA, ITALY
Posted by Violetta Buti in CULTURAL EVENTS IN FLORENCE, EXHIBITS IN ITALY, Italian painters on 17/10/2009
Last 9th of October I attended the press conference for the opening of the exhibit dedicated to a great yet little known painter: Federico Barocci (1528-1612). Born in Urbino (Duchy of Urbino in the past) he worked both in Urbino and Rome. A great work of his (“la Madonna del Popolo”)can be seen in the Uffizi museum in the city of Florence; among the many things, this city is famous in the word for a period that was defined as Renaissance.
