TOUR DURATION: 3 HOURS WITH AN ENGLISH SPEAKING DRIVER
The best way to have an overview of Rome in a brief time is hiring an English-speaking driver
. Rome is the largest city in Italy and can be quite chaotic. With a driver you will be able to see many different sites in a short time and will not have to worry about parking or driving in such a busy city. Your driver will take care of the car while you explore.
In English, a driver will give you a general overview of the places you visit. He will be able to suggest the best time to visit a site in order to avoid the lines and he will suggest the best place to stop to have a nice lunch.
The vehicle will be a Mercedes car or van which has the necessary permit to access the city center.
In no other city in the world do archaeology and ancient art mix as well with present daily life as in Rome
, the Eternal City
! Driving around Rome, we are constantly surprised at what we encounter on our way: Sculpted columns representing the victories of the Romans against the enemy; 2000 years old emperors’ villas; Amphitheaters such as the Coliseum
; Arches; Forums; Temples.
Symmetrical buildings of the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s reflect the search for order and rhythm typical of the rationalistic period (Mussolini’s times).
An explosion of passion and pomp transpires from the ornate palaces and fountains (Trevi Fountain
) of the baroque period of the 16 and 1700’s.
The Vatican City
with Saint Peter’s Basilica
and museums tell us of the fortunes of the Church and the Popes.
Wonderful squares such as Piazza Navona
, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza della Rotonda al Pantheon welcome us while we indulge in the Italians’ favorite hobby: standing around to chat while sipping a “caffè espresso” at a café’s counter or enjoying an aperitif (happy hour).
